thanks, wappy-bear
i can't begin to explain exactly what's been eating me, not just over the long weekend but for years now. that's not the point anyway.
i want to share an entry i found on wappy's blog. i hope he doesn't mind me reposting it here, hehe.
I really should be asleep by now
but hell, it was a long day. I'm gonna keep it short, but hopefully meaningful.
A friend got drunk and called asking for advice, about how to go about her "secret situation". Tangina, eto lang, mga mards at pards, whatever what-ifs you have in life, the only real way to live without regretting the absence of substance is by seizing opportunity. Mike quoted a writer earlier who likened life to business. you don't bank on one opportunity. success comes from the accumulation of opportunities, extracting the most from all of them.
So whatever it may be, love, money, sports, art, leisure, expense, family, friends, education: balance 'em all, live the way life suits you, and never let a moment passwondering if you should have or could have... because you already know the answer. and if you fumble and stumble, look to a good friend to pat you on the ass and get you going again. Mistakes are made for the sake of betterment.
I learned this summer, the greatest thing I learned, that is, is to have the capacity to die for my friends but not to live for them. Friendship: that's the key to coping with the fuckstorms of life. But hey, all friends can really do is be there when you need 'em.
But 99% of the time, you'll be alone. Be quiet and understand this. Do battle if necessary, in the secret places of your own heart, until the fog clears, until nothing trembles. And then that 1% will become something more infinite and more unfathomable than the still chaos of your own being. Because the body moves, because we walk on the surface of the world, because you and I are parts of a whole.
Be strong. How? Live.

short and sweet. and painfully true. i feel as though i could have been your drunk girl with a secret situation.
i wish parents knew about this, too.
Be strong. How? Live.
ironically, not everyone can do this. not without breaking hearts or destroying a family, sometimes.
Mr. Gray said:
but you see, dear, everyone CAN do this. breaking hearts and destroying families, shit like that happens every single day. I come from a broken family, i've broken a few hearts, but look at me, I'm working hard and living strong.
Don't settle for anything that you don't want for yourself. Ako, I waited for a whole year to get my shot at law, doing nothing but bumming around.
You know what, real wisdom comes from no one but yourself. Any advice you get from anyone is just advice. We all face life differently. Face it with courage, and love.
Whatever you're going through, we'll be there to give you a hug, a kiss, and a pat on your cute little butt to get you going again.
But as of now, I gotta hit the books again... ciao babe!

*Hugs firefly and gives her a pat on her cute little butt.*
face your own heart. you see, most of the time, we just settle for the outward forces of its beating; we just follow whatever we feel without challenging the power of our own emotions. the heart speaks and we listen, and listen, and listen, but isn't it so that most of the time the heart speaks in a language that is absolutely beyond human understanding?
Face your own heart. Face her, and let her know that YOU are the boss, not just her. She's just a conduit of your humanity. She is not the entirety that is you.
Once you've done battle, in the end there will be peace. You will be whole, your heart will beat in the rhythym of your footsteps, and the blood in your veins will become the lineage that traces the outlines of your very own soul.
Live strong, babe. Love ya.
