whistle while you work

so this is where i work. or perhaps, more accurately, the people i work with. the illustration above (pencils by jerald, colors by mark) shows the team that comprises interactive art services. today is my 4th day here and i still get confused about who's who so i put on my most charming smile and ask --- who he is for the nth time. ehe.

my job as a junior project manager is somewhat reminiscent of the good ol' prod staff head days. because our office is the manila studio of a US-based company, i coordinate with the PMs there and pass on the tasks to our artists. after that, i just have to check on them from time to time to make sure the job is getting done and in the way the client wants it. and the rest of the day finds me surfing the internet, blogging, and chatting via YM. tsk.

well, that's on good days, when we don't have much projects to do. i've heard horror stories of people finishing at 7am (of the next day!) just to meet the deadline. i hope to god that those days are over, else i'll be. i value sleep and my social life too much.

the area in which the office is located is veeery interesting. it's at the gallery building (does mile long sound familiar?) and right next to makati cinema square (dvd haven!). for north-bound people, mile long is known for, umm, catering mostly to japanese clients. there are many jap restaurants and, umm, clubs. you know, clubs. yeah. so better shoot me if i go to work in a skanky outfit.

speaking of jap restos, there's a burger place called sango nearby. the owner or some such, kobayashi, has an odd habit of giving origami to female customers. yesterday, i ordered 2 cheeseburgers for take-out and before i left, kobayashi hurriedly did some paper magic and handed me an origami flower in an origami pot. hahaha!
